The founder and the artist - Jignesh Jariwala
Artist Bio
Jignesh Jariwala was born in Surat in 1976. He found his artistic instincts while young and gained academic art training by doing a Bachelor of Fine Arts from B.A. Mehta Kalamahavidhyalaya in Amalsad. Besides, he is also inspired by his mentor and artist Ajitsinh Kher. His artworks mainly include paintings, but he has also created some sculptures and reliefs. Since past 20 years, he has also worked in the field of decorative arts and designed artistic furniture, customized wall murals and sculptures, home interior partitions and dividers, and designed mechanically produced giant public display sculptures at residential and industrial projects in and around Surat.
He follows his passion for painting and has exhibited his works various times in Surat including a solo show at the Vanita Vishram Art Gallery in 2024, a group show at the Surat Rotary Art Gallery in 1998, and also at the Kala Utsav fair held by Gujarat Kala Pratishthan in 2010. One of his recent exhibitions was a group show at Hi10 art gallery in Vadodara. He also did exhibitions at popular galleries in Mumbai including a group exhibition at Jehangir Art Gallery in 2014 and another at Nehru Center in 2009. His sculpture work was displayed in the book publication and group exhibition of ‘AI50 Edition 1 – sculpture’ at Art Houz, Chennai.
From 2012-2017, and also in 2023 and 24, he was invited each year to be a part of the Jury panel of the South Gujarat Inter-College Painting Competition at J.Z. Shah Arts & H.P. Desai Commerce College in Surat. He has also been a visiting examiner for a photography viva in 2024 at Auro University in Surat.
Jignesh is a member of the Art Society of India, and Gujarat Kala Pratisthan.
He currently resides in Surat where his studio is located and continues to work on his painting series Ramayana on which he started working in 2020. So far he has created over 25 paintings and continues to paint further. He also continues to run Tattva – the art gallery with his aim to bring art to interior and exterior spaces around the city.
